Agri-Inno 2017

In March, a cross-disciplinary group of 12 Egyptian Researchers & Entrepreneurs worked together with 12 Cambridge Researchers & Entrepreneurs to address challenges in Agricultural Waste in Egypt.

Agri-Inno was a GCRF BBSRC funded workshop, led by Professor Alison Smith (Head of Plant Metabolism Group at Plant Sciences and Director of CambPlants) and delivered by the JBS Entrepreneurial Centre.

It was an exciting week, where the participants had to get out of their scientific comfort zone, unlock their innovative & enterprise spirit and pitch their business idea to solve an agri-waste problem to a panel of investors, scientific experts and business professionals.

We had guest speakers from Plant Sciences, Zoology, the Institute for Manufacturing, NIAB and from several Agri-Tech start-up companies.  At the final dinner, the Sustainability Director of William Jackson Food group (Gavin Mulligan) gave an overview of current sustainability issues in the food value chain.

Thank you to all that participated and made it happen! Check out the Storify - here
