Speaker: Dr. Allen Eaves
Dr. Allen Eaves is the Founder, President and CEO of STEMCELL Technologies Inc, which is a global biotechnology company head-quartered in Vancouver. He completed his BSc and MSc followed by his MD with specialty training in medical oncology and hematology. In 1981, he founded the Terry Fox Laboratory for Hematology/Oncology Research with his wife Dr. Connie Eaves, and was its director for 25 years. During this time he was also Professor and the Head of Clinical Hematology at University of British Columbia for 18 years. He has been president of the International Society of Cell Therapy (ISCT) and American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) as well as the founding treasurer of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cell Therapies (FACT). Currently, he is a Board member for the Canadian Stem Cell Foundation, the Stem Cell Network, Mprime, BIRS and the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine. In 1993, he founded STEMCELL Technologies, which develops and markets specialty cell culture media, cell separation products, reagents and instruments required for life science research. STEMCELL Technologies has over 650 employees and distributes its products to over 70 countries worldwide.
